CANDLE CARE & SAFETY

Wooden wick candles offer a touch of luxury and sophistication, but require more attention than traditional cotton wick candles. Follow these tips for optimal burning and enjoyment.

  • STEP 1

For best results, hold lighter to the wick for about 5 seconds to properly fuel the flame. On the first burn and every consecutive burn, allow 2-3 hours for the wax to fully melt to edge of the can. This helps to enhance the scent throw and prevent tunneling.

  • STEP 2

Before every new burn, clip or pinch off the blackened, curled part of the wooden wick. This allows the wax to safely feed the flame.

  • STEP 3

Do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time. When there is 1/4 inch wax left, it is time for a new candle.

HOT TIPS

THE FIRST BURN IS VERY IMPORTANT.

For an even burn throughout the candle's life, burn it for 3-4 hours on the first use. This allows the wax to melt completely to the container's edge, preventing tunneling. If tunneling occurs, the candle may struggle to stay lit. For coconut-soy wax candles, some wax may 'hang up' on the edge. This is normal and will melt down as the candle heats up.

TRIM YOUR WICK

Trimming the wick is a simple yet crucial step in candle care that ensures a safe, clean, and enjoyable candle-burning experience. It prolongs the candle's life, enhances the fragrance throw, and minimizes the risk of fire hazards. Make it a habit to trim your wicks before each use for optimal candle enjoyment.

CANDLE SAFETY

Do not burn your candle when less than a 1/4” inch of wax remains. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep your candle free of foreign materials. Keep out of reach of flammable objects, pets, and children. Only burn your candle on a level, stable and fire resistant surface. Do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time. The candle container may become very hot, and always use caution when handling.

FAQs

  • Our candles are handcrafted to fill an average-sized room with their captivating aroma, creating a tranquil ambiance in your living space.

  • If there is major wax buildup on the inside of the candle vessel (or tunneling), there is a remedy! Gently remove the tunneled wax using a butter knife to even out the surface.

To prevent tunneling from happening in the first place, always burn your candles for at least 2-3 hours at a time. This will allow the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the container and prevent it from building up around the wick.

  • This is a natural characteristic of coconut-soy wax and is actually a sign that our candles are made without paraffin or additives. The bumpy texture occurs when the candle cools at an uneven rate. While some candles may dry with a smooth surface, others may retain a slightly bumpy finish. This does not affect the performance of your candle.
